After independence, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had the illusion that if we provide new facilities to neighboring China, our relations with it will be good. Therefore, in 1950, when the Tibetans expressed their desire to live with India and become a protectorate of India, our then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Ji advised them to become a protectorate of China.

Not only this, in the year 1951, Jawaharlal Nehru advocated for a treaty in which he suggested that Tibet should establish internal autonomy, culture and internal self-rule by making a treaty with China and accept its sovereignty. It was then that the Tibetan leadership signed that treaty with the confidence of Nehru.

Before this, Tibet was an independent nation. After that, from 1955, China started increasing its military presence there. In the year 1959, China completely occupied Tibet and the Dalai Lama had to take refuge in India.

Earlier, from 1951 to 1955, Chou En Lai used to regularly tell Jawaharlal Nehru that there was no border dispute between China and India. Our boundaries are very clear. But, as soon as it took complete control over Tibet, in 1955, China started releasing some maps in which it started showing Indian territory as China's.

After this, as soon as Tibet was completely controlled in 1959, they said that there is a serious border dispute between us (India and China) and you (India) have suppressed one lakh four thousand square kilometers of China's land.

Thus, as long as China needed India's cooperation to annex Tibet, China said that 'there is no border dispute between us (China-India).' But as soon as it completely acquired Tibet, China suddenly said that 'India has suppressed one lakh four thousand square kilometers of China's land.'

Remember, before that, when China was not a member of the United Nations, India was the only country, apart from the communist countries, which had given the strongest support for China's membership.

Forgetting all these favors, they finally attacked India in 1962 and captured our 38,000 square km. The land was forcibly acquired by China. In this way, due to the big mistake that India had made at that time of handing over Tibet to China in the illusion of buying peace from China, on one hand China has become our direct neighbor and is putting undue pressure on the border today.

On the other hand, today China is trying to divert the water of Brahmaputra river. 10 big rivers, including Brahmaputra, originate from Tibet and provide water supply to 11 countries. China is diverting the water of those rivers as per its wish. If Tibet had not been dominated by China, this water crisis would not have arisen.

Since North Eastern China is a dry area, its dam is drying up and hence it is diverting a large amount of water from Tibet and in the same sequence it has also started building dams to block the Brahmaputra river. From those dams it has started construction of tunnels, pipelines and canals.

According to satellite images, international observers, international magazines and Chinese newspapers, construction work is going on there on a large scale. Remember that the Mekongnam river also originates from Tibet, which has been supplying water to the four countries of Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. China has blocked its flow. There is a large amount of land in those countries turning into drought because China has blocked the water of the Mekong River.

Due to this dispute, Mekong River Commission of five countries has been formed. China either does not go to its meetings and when it goes, it says, 'We have not stopped any of your water, we have not done any diversion.' China is not ready to accept that it has stopped the water flow of these countries, whereas these remaining four countries are very troubled.

Today, when the lives of 10 crore people of our country depend on the Brahmaputra river, we should raise this dispute as an international river water dispute. Bangladesh will also be affected due to blocking of Brahmaputra water. Therefore we should take him along also.

China should be forced not to divert the waters of Brahmaputra. Otherwise Arunachal Pradesh and Assam will turn into drought.

1.25 lakh cubic feet of water flows every second in the Brahmaputra river, the purest water of the glaciers. During floods, 10 lakh cubic feet of water flows every second. By diverting the Brahmaputra, we will stop getting all the water and the situation will become such that the Brahmaputra river can turn into a seasonal drain.
