The world Is nowhere near containment of Jihadi terrorism—genetic mutation of a grave and fast growing malady of Islamic Radicalism. The malignancy manifests in propagation of pernicious ideology of hate, revenge and violence, diabolical acts of terror, treating all conflicts with non-Muslims worthy of Jihad and branding liberal Islamic regimes, organizations and individuals as unislamic.

Flawed diagnosis of critical ingredients of the phenomenon, its networks—both real and virtual- and the areas and societies where it thrives and strikes often get lost in the din of spectacular acts of violence.

From this perspective, South Asian countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India have a special import—both academic and empirical; the first three where the virus multiplied most prolifically and the last where it struck most lethally.

Largest number of muslims have fought and died in the name of Jihad from this region in last quarter of a century. Together, this region has one third of the world’s Muslim population and has over 200 Islamic extremist groups and Jihadi organisations of various brands and sizes.

Most of the Islamic terrorists who struck in different parts of the world have had some link or the other with the region—which have tried overthrowing democracy with their terrorist activities.

Islamist militant (read terrorist) organizations have targeted India for more than a decade. Bombings have bloodied the sprawling metropolises of Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad, as well as smaller cities and towns throughout India. Dramatic attacks have also hit the historic Red Fort in Delhi, the Indian Parliament and Kashmir’s state assembly.

Police and paramilitaries stand permanent guard outside government buildings, popular tourist sites and crowded markets, while terrorism alerts have become familiar headlines. For an India experiencing unprecedented economic growth, Islamist terrorism is a grim reminder of South Asia’s bitter divisions.

As with much of the political violence that has roiled the subcontinent, a corrosive mixture of external and domestic causes lie behind this terrorist threat. Pakistan’s sponsorship of terror groups fighting in Kashmir has allowed these organizations to build their capabilities for pushing violence into the Indian heartland.

Islamic Terrorism Outfits in India, leading to pro islamic occupation of Indian land:

Lashkar - E – Taiba

While the primary ares of operations of the Lashkar-e-Taiba’s activities is the Kashmir valley, the outfit is also active in the Jammu region besides having under taken repeated and confirmed attacks in other parts of India.

The LeT’s professed goal is not limited to challenging India’s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir, The group's aims include establishing an Islamic state in South Asia and uniting all Muslim majority regions in countries that surround Pakistan.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba group has repeatedly claimed through its journals and websites that its main aim is to destroy the Indian republic and to annihilate Hindu ism and Judaism. LeT has declared Hindus and Jews to be the “enemies of Islam”, as well as India and Israel to be the “enemies of Pakistan”. I

n September and October 2009, Israeli and Indian intelligence agencies issued alerts warning that LeT us planning to attack Jewish religious places in Pune, India and other locations visited by Western and Israeli tourists in India.

The gunmen who attacked the Mumbai head quarters of the Chabad Lubavitch move ment during the November 2008 attacks were reportedly instructed that “Every person you kill where you are is worth 50 of the ones killed elsewhere.”

Jaish-E-Mohammed

Jaish-e-Mohammed (often abbrevi ated as JEM) is a major Islamic militant organization in South Asia. Jaish-e-Mo hammed was formed in 1994 and is based in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The group’s primary objective is to separate Kashmir from India, and it has carried out a series of attacks all over India.

Most spectacular of the thousands of attacks. That JEM is responsible for and has blood on its hands is the death of hundreds of innocents on 11/26/2008 who were murdered by 10 Pakistani Islamic terrorists from JEM who came via boat and killed over 186 people in Mumbai.

The group was formed after the sup- porters of Maulana Masood Azhar split from another Islamic militant organisation, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen. Islamic terrorist Masood Azhar was freed in exchange for hijacked passengers of an Indian Airlines flight. On achieving his freedom, the murderer set about killing thousands more to achieve his goals of a Kashmir free from India.

The group gets considerable funding from Pakistani ex- - patriates in the United Kingdom and the UAE. The group is regarded as a terrorist organization by several countries including India, United States and United Kingdom. Jaish-e-Mohammed is viewed by some as the “deadliest” and “the principal terrorist organization in Jammu and Kashmir”.

Al-Qaeda

Al-Qaeda is a worldwide pan-Islamic terrorist network headed by Osama bin Laden. Now operates in more than 60 countries. Its stated aim is the use of jihad to defend Islam against Hinduism, Zionism, Christianity, the secular West, which it sees as insufficiently Islamic and too closely tied to America.

Formed by bin Laden and Muhammad Atef in the after math of the Soviet war in Afghanistan in the late 1980s, Al Qaeda called for the use of violence against civilians and military of the United States and any countries that are allied with it.

Since its formation Al Qaeda has committed a number of terrorist acts in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia and South Asia. Although once supported by the Taliban organization in Afghanistan, the U.S. and British governments never considered the Taliban to have been a terrorist organization.

Specially some events such as Twin Towers bombing in 1993, the 9/11 event and further much more events. Muslim popular opinion on the subject of attacks on civilians by Islamist groups varies.

While most Muslims living in the West denounce the September 11th attacks on the US, Hezbollah’s rocket attacks against Israeli civilian targets are widely supported in the Muslim world and regarded as defensive Jihad by a legitimate resistance.

Moreover, HUM, HUJI, LET and JEM, the Pakistani jihadi organisations which are members of bin Laden’s IIF along with Al Qaeda and the Taliban have been responsible for most of the religious terrorist incidents in J&K and other places in India.
