What is Maoists' 'Alleged Shaheedi Saptah' ?

In fact, the banned Maoist organization Communist Party of India (Maoist) has been celebrating Shaheedi Saptah every year from 28 July. Maoists celebrate this day in memory of the death of Charu Mazumdar, who was an advocate of extremist ideas of communism, in the year 1972.

During this Shaheedi Saptah, security forces and government establishments have been targeted by the Maoists in the past.

However, the reality is that the bloody violence being carried out by the Maoists in the name of the so-called revolution at present is purely dedicated to the objectives of ending democracy from India and establishing a foreign ideology.

Despite this, the Maoists continue to do such "fake" Shaheedi Saptah like stunts to mislead the people of the tribal community living in remote forests.

Preparations are on for this year too

By pasting leaflets in the Maoist-affected districts, the Maoists have called upon the common people to celebrate this week as a memorial to the slain Maoists.

In the Maoist-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, Orrisa and Jharkhand, Maoists have instructed common people to celebrate this so-called Shaheedi Saptah at selected places, in view of which the security forces have also increased vigilance.

Senior officers posted in Maoist-affected areas says that attempts are made by the Maoists to register their presence through such tricks. By doing this, the Maoists try to strengthen their weakening hold among the general public in the affected areas by creating an atmosphere of fear.

However, for the Maoists who are facing defeat at the hands of the security forces on every front from north to south, it seems impossible to strengthen their rapidly dwindling mass base now.
