On April 13, a local resident was killed in a pressure IED (improvised explosive device) blast planted by Communist terrorists. Munna Bharti, a resident of Chote Dewda in Jagdalpur, tragically lost his life as he was innocently travelling through the Mirtur region on foot, completely unaware of the deadly trap which was set by the Maoists.

The incident occurred approximately 100 kilometres from Nelasnar village, where CM Vishnu Deo Sai was concurrently conducting a poll rally in the Naxalite-affected Bijapur district.

Munna’s regular commute from Dumripalnar to Gangaloor took a disastrous turn when he accidentally stepped on a hidden IED, resulting in a powerful blast that instantly took his life. Following the blast, his body was scattered all around the road, plunging the local community into mourning.

The deceased, Munna, was a labourer dedicated to supporting his family, becoming yet another casualty in the relentless cycle of violence perpetrated by Maoist terrorists. His untimely demise serves as a stark reminder of the grave dangers faced by innocent civilians amidst the ongoing conflict between security forces and Maoist terrorists.

While Munna Bharti's tragic death underscores the immediate toll exacted by Maoist violence, it also sheds light on the broader impact of terrorism on local communities. Beyond the headlines, countless innocent lives continue to be lost to Naxalite landmines strategically deployed across the region.

These deadly traps, often concealed along roads and footpaths frequented by locals, pose a constant threat to the safety and livelihoods of innocent civilians like Munna Bharti. Despite efforts by security forces to mitigate the risk, the ruthless tactics employed by Maoist terrorists persistently claim the lives of those caught in the crossfire of conflict.

Not only, these landmines pose a threat to the civilians but also ruin their families by totally disrupting their economic support as someone like Munna who used to be his family’s breadwinner, lost both his life and support to his family.
