According to the District Superintendent of Police, Neelotpal, intelligence inputs indicated members of the Perimili Dalam were camping in the forests near Katrangatta village in Bhamragad Taluka, intending to conduct subversive activities during their ongoing tactical counter offensive campaign (TCOC) period.

The outlawed Maoist group executes TCOC from March to June to bolster its ranks and mount assaults on security forces due to reduced forest cover.

Two units of C-60 commandos of Gadchiroli Police were dispatched for a search in the area, and during the operation, Maoists suddenly opened fire on C-60 commandos, prompting retaliatory fire from the commandos.

After the cessation of fire, the bodies of one male and two female Maoists were recovered from the scene, with one identified as Vasu Korcha, who was carrying a bounty of Rs. 16,00,000 on his head, the in-charge and commander of the Perimili Dalam.

Another was identified as Reshma Madkam of Company-10, who was carrying a reward of Rs. 4,00,000 on her head, and Kamla Madavi, a member of Perimili Dalam, with a bounty of Rs. 2,00,000 on her head.

After the encounter, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a carbine, an INSAS rifle, Maoist literature, and other incriminating material seized at the site.

These encounters are essential for the total wipeout of left-wing extremism. Security forces are taking immense care while eliminating Maoists in different regions. This is due to their tactical methods and counter-offensive tactics.
