In a significant development, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district recovered a large cache of Maoist materials, including a country-made firearm, a tiffin bomb, and various other supplies, during an anti-Naxal operation in the Bhejji police station area on September 29, 2024.
Simultaneously, five CRPF personnel, including an officer, were injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Bijapur's Tarrem police station area.
Sukma Operation and Material Recovery
Acting on intelligence about the presence of Maoist terrorists from the Konta Area Committee, a joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters launched an anti-Naxal operation on the night of September 28, 2024.
The operation focused on the forested and hilly regions near the villages of Danteshpuram, Bhandarpadar, Nagaram, Korajguda, and other surrounding areas.
By the morning of September 29, 2024, at around 8:00 AM, security forces began closing in on suspected Maoist positions.
However, the terrorists, noticing the advancing forces, fled into the dense forest, abandoning their cache of materials.
During the search, security forces recovered several critical items from a Maoist dump.
The recovered materials included a country-made firearm, a BPL TV, a tiffin bomb, syringes, and Maoist propaganda materials.
Notably, no casualties were reported, and all security personnel returned safely to their base.

This operation is part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate Maoist influence in the region, as Sukma continues to be a hotbed for terrorist activity.
IED Blast in Bijapur Injures CRPF Personnel
In a separate incident on the same day, five personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in an IED blast in the Tarrem area of Bijapur district.
The blast occurred around 7 AM while a CRPF team from the 153 battalion was conducting a de-mining operation to detect and defuse explosives planted by Maoists.
While searching for an IED connected to a wire they had discovered, the bomb detonated, resulting in splinter injuries to five security personnel.
The injured personnel were identified as CRPF Assistant Commandant Vaidya Sanket Devidas, Inspector Sanjay Kumar, and constables B Pavan Kalyan, Lochan Mahato, and Dhole Rajendra Ashruba. They sustained injuries to their faces, eyes, and abdomen areas.
Following immediate medical assistance on the spot, the injured personnel were airlifted to Raipur for further treatment. The condition of the injured jawans is currently stable, according to officials.
Ongoing Anti-Naxal Operations
Chhattisgarh remains one of the most challenging regions for security forces due to the persistent threat posed by Maoist terrorists.
The CRPF and state police continue to conduct extensive anti-Maoist operations, with regular recoveries of explosives and arms from Maoist hideouts.
The ongoing campaign in Sukma and the demining efforts in Bijapur highlight the critical role played by security forces in countering the Maoist terrorism in the state.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying anti-Naxal operations to bring peace and stability to the region.
