Security forces in Sukma recover concealed Naxal weapons and explosives during a planned search operation that follows specific intelligence inputs.

Security forces in Sukma recovered a large cache of Naxal weapons and explosives on 26 November during a planned search operation in the forested Palaguda area after receiving specific intelligence inputs.

A joint team from the Sukma District Police and the 150 Battalion CRPF moved from the Palaguda camp early in the morning under the guidance of senior district officials. Assistant Commandant Ajay Kumar led the personnel as they advanced towards Palaguda Ittapara and the nearby forest hill stretch where the inputs pointed to Naxal activity.

The team began a detailed search of the area and found a major Naxal dump around 9.15 am. The cache lay buried beneath the soil. The team recovered weapons, explosives and other material that pointed to a planned attack on security forces.

The recovery included five single shot rifles over muzzle loading type, thirty five gelatin sticks, seven BGL heads, seven electric detonators and seven non electric detonators. The team also seized about forty metres of cordex wire, one bag of Naxal literature, one bag of medical supplies, a multimeter and nearly forty metres of flexible wire.

Officials said the seizure broke Naxal plans to carry out violent strikes on security personnel and civilians. The recovery showed the scale of preparation underway in the region and the team prevented the material from being used in any future attack.

The personnel completed the search and returned safely to the camp. Officials said the successful operation added to recent efforts to strengthen security and stability in the Sukma district.
