Security forces kill 3 Maoists in Bijapur encounters, recover weapons and explosives

Security forces killed three Maoists carrying rewards of ₹8 lakh each during back-to-back encounters in Bijapur district’s West Bastar Division on 12 and 13 September 2025.
 
SP Bijapur, Dr Jitendra Kumar Yadav, confirmed that the operations were carried out based on credible intelligence inputs. He identified the killed Maoists as Hidma Podiyam, a PPCM in PLGA Company No. 02, Platoon No. 01, Munna Madkam, also from PLGA Company No. 02, Platoon No. 01, and Arun Madkam, a CYPC-DVCM in PLGA Company No. 02. Each of them carried a reward of ₹8 lakh.

On 12 September, security teams engaged Maoists in an encounter at Lendra Korcholi under Gangaloor police station limits, where two cadres were killed. The forces recovered a .303 rifle, a 12-bore gun, explosives and other Maoist material.

The following day, 13 September, forces launched a follow-up operation in Kakekorma, also under Gangaloor, leading to the death of another Maoist cadre. From the site, security forces seized a 12-bore gun, a BGL launcher, explosives and Maoist literature.
 
Overall recoveries from both encounters included one .303 rifle, two 12-bore guns, one BGL launcher, explosives, batteries, codex wires, a scanner set, Maoist literature and other material.
 
IGP Bastar Range, Sundarraj P., stated that operations against Maoists are being carried forward with the momentum built in 2024. He said that from January 2024 to 13 September 2025, security forces have killed 432 hardcore Maoists, crediting effective strategy, brave action by personnel and public support.
 
He also noted that the killing of Central Committee Member Modem Balakrishna alias Manoj in Gariyaband and the surrender of another Central Committee Member, Sujatha alias Kalpana, had dealt major blows to the CPI (Maoist).
 
The IGP reaffirmed that security forces will continue their operations against Left Wing Extremism with full determination until it is completely eradicated.
